The Best Mexican Restaurant in Des Moines!

Tonight I had the pleasure of eating at what I now consider to be the best Mexican restaurant in Des Moines. I love Mexican food, and I mean love it! But only if it is authentic, traditional, fresh and real with an entertaining atmosphere.

I’m not talking about the crap you find at so many other restaurants pretending to be the real thing but are actually far from it, especially the wannabe Mexican food chains. That stuff is just laughable.

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant and a true family entertainment destination that serves quality food with fresh ingredients using genuine recipes and techniques, along with excellent service, then I highly recommend Cinco de Mayo in Des Moines.

Let’s Go Des Moines, It’s Time to Vote!

The Presidential Election day is finally here so make sure you get out there today and cast your vote. We all know how important of a state Iowa is in the election. The candidates spend a LOT of time, effort, and money trying to win the great state of Iowa.

Your vote counts! But only if you go cast it officially. Remember, you can’t complain about who the president is if you don’t vote for anyone!

Still aren’t sure who to vote for? We, here at the Des Moines Post, strongly feel that Mitt Romney is the better man for the job. So if you want to use our opinion as the basis of your voting then go for it. If not, that’s ok too.

The point of this post is simply to get everyone in DSM and Iowa to go help decide who will be the President of the United States of America for the next 4 years. It will be either Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. You get to help choose which one. That’s what is so great about this wonderful Country!

I grew up in Central Iowa not very far from the Des Moines area. And when I was growing up it was always just sort of understood that Des Moines was boring and didn’t have much to do. That’s the mindset I’ve had for years but it is quickly beginning to change.

The Des Moines you see today is a far cry from what it was 20 years ago, and in a positive way. There is a lot of new life in the city and it is improving every year. These days there is plenty to do in DSM and it has many attractions for people of all ages.

Iowa State Fair 2012

Clearly the largest and most popular event in Des Moines each year is the Iowa State Fair. Actually, it is known far and wide as one of the biggest and best fairs in the entire country. The food is amazing and there’s plenty of great entertainment for people of all ages. It’s definitely a lot of fun, and if you live in Iowa, it’s practically a requirement to go at least one day every year while it’s happening.

Annually the fair attracts more than a million people from around the world. It features the states largest arts show, the largest food department of any state fair, and one of the world’s largest livestock shows. And let’s not forget about the beer! So it’s no surprise that the Iowa State Fair was named in the New York Times best selling travel book “1,000 Places to See Before You Die.”

It has also been recognized by Midwest Living magazine as one of the “Top 30 Things Every Midwesterner Should Experience” and was named the #2 choice for summer fun in America by USA Weekend.

This summer the 2012 Iowa State Fair is going on from August 9-19 so be sure to come to Des Moines and join in the fun once again!
